Two car bombs in Baghdad on Wednesday killed 28 people and wounded scores more as over 60 bodies were found. In the day's deadliest attack, 20 people died and 51 others were wounded in a car bomb attack against a police patrol in east Baghdad, interior ministry spokesman Brigadier General Abdel Karim Khalaf told AFP.
A bomb in a parked car in central Baghdad killed at least eight people and injured 10 on Wednesday morning, police sources said. The incident took place near Iraq's national sports stadium.
Meanwhile, a total of 60 unidentified bodies had been found in various parts of Baghdad over the past 24 hours, an Interior Ministry source said, according to Reuters. The source said most bodies were bound and shot in the head and many bore signs of torture.
Last week, the U.N. office in Baghdad said the number of unidentified bodies taken to the city morgue last month went down by 17 percent to 1,536 from a record figure the previous month.
