An American Marine died in fighting in Iraq's western province of Al-Anbar, the military said on Thursday. According to AFP, the Marine was killed on Tuesday during combat operations in the province.
The military earlier announced that an American Marine deployed in Al-Anbar died in a non-combat related incident.
Meanwhile, two British troops have been killed by a roadside bomb in southern Iraq, the Ministry of Defense said Thursday. The two soldiers from 1st Battalion the Irish Guards died when the bomb hit their convoy north of the Rumaylah oil fields, west of Basra, early Thursday, the ministry said. Two others were seriously injured. A total of 168 British personnel have died in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion.
