Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Thursday stated that Israel is the first beneficiary of the "Arab Spring" winds, warning that the protest movements in the Arab world serve the ambitions of Tel Aviv. Maliki said that the region is witnessing major tensions called "Arab Spring", as some elements have been calling for the people to gain their rights.
Al-Maliki said there are significant challenges and serious threats facing Iraq. He stressed that Israel is the first and the biggest beneficiary of this process.
Since the beginning of this year, protest movements around the Arab world have been demanding reforms under the name of "Arab Spring," which led to the downfall of the regimes in Egypt and Tunisia. The protests did not skip Iraq, which saw massive demonstrations in February to demand reforms in the social, political and economic domains.
