An commander for extremist group the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria, allegedly responsible for rigging vehicles with explosives for attacks in Lebanon, was killed in ongoing clashes in Arsal, according to Al-Manar.

The Hezbollah-affiliated television station said Abu Hasan al-Homsi was killed in the fighting between the Army and militants in the northeastern border town.

Lebanon has been hit with a spate of car bombings in the past year, most of which have been claimed by radical groups fighting in Syria seeking to punish Hezbollah's for its role in the war there.
