A delegation from the border village of Arsal alongside the Red Cross are set to receive the body of a beheaded soldier who was beheaded by IS to the military hospital Monday, sources close to the negotiations told The Daily Star.
“A delegation from the village and the Red Cross left from Arsal and will receive the body directly from IS,” Muslim Scholars Committee member Hussam Al-Ghali said.
An ambulance of the Lebanese Red Cross will transport the body of Sergeant Ali Al Sayyed from Arsal outskirts to the military hospital in Ablah, in the Bekaa Valley.
The committee member clarified that the areas controlled by IS in the outskirts of Arsal, are closer and easier to access for the reception of the body than locations under the control of the Nusra Front.
Ghali confirmed that there are direct contacts with IS militants but did not disclose any information concerning the identity of the mediator.
