Shlomo Ben Ami has been officially appointed Israel’s foreign minister, reported the Jerusalem Post newspaper, quoting a statement by the prime ministry.
Prime Minister Ehud Barak informed cabinet ministers of the decision, and said an announcement would be made to the Knesset later, according to the paper.
Ben Ami was appointed acting foreign minister after David Levy had resigned in August in protest of Israel’s stance towards the peace process.
Prior to his appointment as acting foreign minister, Ben Ami used to be Israel’s top negotiator with Palestinians – Albawaba.com
