Israeli Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said Monday that security forces had arrested suicide bomber planning to carry out an attack Monday in Tel Aviv.
The suicide bomber was captured "by chance," Haaretz newspaper quoted the minister as telling Israel Radio.
The bomber was allegedly prepared for his mission by Amer Al Khudairi, a 23-year-old Hamas activist who was assassinated in an Israeli hit Sunday in the West Bank city of Tulkarem.
The minister said the man arrested came from the West Bank but gave no further details.
He said the army and security service, backed up by a "watchful public," had succeeded in foiling around 80 percent of the Palestinian attacks against Israel.
