The final resolution of the Arab summit in Cairo was a "victory of wisdom in the Arab world," an Israeli government spokesman said Sunday following the end of the Arab summit in Cairo.
"I think that for the time being, it looks as if this is a victory of wisdom in the Arab world, that those countries, especially Egypt and Jordan who maintain diplomatic relations with Israel did decide strategically to proceed with that peace," government spokesman Nachman Shai said.
"Maybe it's also a message to (Palestinian leader Yasser) Arafat to stop the violence," said Shai, giving Israel's first response to the two-day emergency summit called to discuss the wave of violence in the Palestinian territories, which has killed 129 people, mostly Arabs – JERUSALEM (AFP)
