Israeli forces detained a Palestinian merchant from Gaza while at the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing between Israel and the besieged Gaza Strip on Tuesday evening.

A source in the Palestinian Civil Administration and Liaison Office said that Israeli forces detained merchant Sabri Qandil, 56, from Gaza City, while trying to pass across the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing in the northern Gaza Strip.

Another Palestinian merchant was also detained by the Israeli authorities while at the same crossing less than a week ago.

Reasons for the detention were not yet identified.
