Israel has alluded to the Tuesday night airstrike on Syrian territory for the first time during a security conference in Munich, AP reported on Sunday.
The Israeli defense minister, Ehud Barak, made comments referencing a transfer of weapons from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon during his speech on Sunday. The U.S. have previously said that the strike on Syria was targeting anti-aircraft missiles, set to be sent to the militant group.
Barak told the audience in Munich: "I keep telling frankly that we said — and that's proof when we said something we mean it— we say that we don't think it should be allowed to bring advanced weapons systems into Lebanon."
Earlier in his speech he said he could not " add anything to what you have read in the newspapers about what happened in Syria several days ago."
Up until the speech today, Israel has refused to publicly acknowledge their role in the strike on Syria. However, they have previously warned on several occasions that they would take military action if Syria's chemical weapons fell into the 'wrong hands'.
