Israel has complained to the United Nations about 43 recent incidents on its northern border provoked by Lebanese, a statement from the Israeli army said Thursday.
The statement said Israel had already complained about 80 similar incidents, and said they concerned "stone throwing at troops on duty along the border, which in one case slightly injured one of them, and acts of vandalism against installations along the western sector of the border."
"These incidents make the lives of the Israeli inhabitants of the region more difficult and prevent them from working normally. They are also holding up work on setting on a network of barriers along the border," it said.
UN Security Council Resolution 425, passed in 1978 after Israel's invasion of Lebanon, calls for UN forces to be deployed along the frontier to help "restore international peace and security" after the Israeli withdrawal.
Israel withdrew its troops on May 24th, after 22 years of occupation.
The UN Security Council certified the pullback on June 23rd, but deployment of the UN forces has been delayed because Lebanon says Israel is still encroaching on its territory in nine places - OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (AFP)
