Israel denied Thursday Hizbullah’s claims it plans to leave the disputed Shebaa Farms.

In a special statement, the Israeli army said “according to false allegations by the Hizbullah organization, the Israeli Army is re-enforcing its position in the area of Har Dov (Sheba Farms). This is not the first time that the Hizbullah is distributing false announcements and allegations….This is a scheme. A deliberate plot by the Hizbullah…”

The flurry of speculation regarding this issue was prompted following a recent speech by Hizbullah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who claimed that Israel and the United States were considering such a withdrawal. Nasrallah said that an Israeli withdrawal from Shebaa Farms would be "a new victory for the resistance," and that "the Lebanese will discover that resistance, not diplomacy, is what liberated the Shaba Farms."
