Israeli helicopters fired missiles at two Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza City before dawn Saturday, in what the Palestinian group described as an attempt to assassinate one of its top leaders, Mohammed al-Hindi. One attack was directed to a building that served as a media center for the Islamic Jihad, Israel claimed.

At least 10 Palestinians were lightly wounded in the missile strikes. Al Hindi was not hurt.

Al-Hindi's followers pledged "earthquake-like" revenge attacks against Israel for its attempt.
