ALBAWABA- The Israeli occupation forces have launched a new military operation in Khan Yunis, Gaza, marking the third such offensive in the area within ten months.
The operation, led by the Israeli army's 98th Division, is aimed at dismantling the military capabilities of Palestinian resistance groups, including Hamas.
However, the assault has led to severe suffering for civilians, who were forced to flee their homes with nowhere safe to go, as the entire Gaza Strip remains under threat.
The offensive comes just hours after the United States, Qatar, and Egypt called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of detainees in Gaza.
These mediators have urged Israel and Hamas to resume ceasefire talks on August 15, stressing the need to alleviate the suffering of both Gaza’s civilians and hostages.
In a related development, the Israeli military acknowledged that a senior officer was seriously injured in the ongoing battles in Gaza.
Israeli army further confirmed that air defense systems intercepted a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip targeting Zikim and Ashkelon in southern Israel. Sirens were activated in both locations.
