Israel has lifted a trade blockade with the Palestinian territories by opening the main freight crossing point with the Gaza Strip, at Karni, an AFP correspondent said Thursday.
Trucks had begun moving through the crossing point, which had been closed by Israel as part of its blockade of the Palestinian territories during a three-week wave of violence which has claimed more than 100 lives.
Israel committed itself to lifting the blockade under the conditions of the Sharm Declaration, following a summit meeting in Egypt earlier this week aimed at bringing the violence to an end -- KARNI CROSSING POINT, Gaza Strip (AFP)
