In Hebron, Israeli occupation troops imposed a curfew on the city as part of a new military offensive dubbed “hot winter”, which started early Thursday.

A Palestinian woman returning home from hospital was wounded Sunday when Israeli troops enforcing the curfew shot at the taxi she was in, witnesses said. She was brought back to hospital for further treatment, medical sources confirmed, according to the Palestinian Media Center web site.

Also in Hebron area, Israeli bulldozers demolished 22 houses in Beit Anoun village after forcing their inhabitants to evacuate them under gunpoint, witnesses added. Israeli military sources claimed the demolished houses were built “without building permissions”.

Local Palestinian officials, however, said no pre-warnings were giving to them and accused the Israeli authorities of carrying collective punishment against the village residents.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian leadership said it was ready to discuss a general ceasefire with the Israelis and immediately revive peace talks under the guidance of the “Quartet” of peace mediators.

“We are ready to conclude a comprehensive ceasefire agreement in all the areas and restart negotiations as soon as possible under the aegis of the quartet,” the leadership said after its meeting late Friday in the West Bank town of Ramallah.

The leadership also said it was “surprised at the negative response of the Israeli government which has rejected a call for a re-launching of dialogue and prefers the road of military escalation.” (Albawaba.com)
