Israel on Tuesday accused the radical Palestinian fundamentalist group Islamic Jihad of being behind West Bank ambushes the day before that killed two Israeli soldiers and a Jewish settler.
"All the indications we have is that this attack was carried out by people from the Islamic Jihad," said Communications Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer, who is also acting prime minister in the absence of Ehud Barak.
"But the important thing is all most of these types of operation are committed with the authorization of (Palestinian leader) Yasser Arafat," he said on Israeli army radio.
In addition to shooting which targeted the woman settler's car and an army vehicle near the West Bank town of Ramallah, another Israeli was killed in a similar attack in the Gaza Strip on Monday -- JERUSALEM (AFP)
