The Israeli government has requested from the US defense ministry the purchase of various military equipment as well as technical training, according to a press release published by the office of the ministry's secretary assistant.
According to the Pentagon's statement, a copy of which was e-mailed to Albawaba.com, the estimated cost of the military purchase is $525 million.
The purchase includes 35 UH-60L Blackhawk helicopters, turbine engines tools and support equipment, publications and technical data, personnel training and training equipment and other related elements of logistics support, said the release.
"This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country which has been and continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East," according to the Pentagon.
The proposed sale will enhance their current helicopter fleet and provide combat service support for Israeli Defense personnel, it added.
"The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not affect the basic military balance in the region," said the release - Albawaba.com
