ALBAWABA - Following weeks of threats to target areas in Southern Lebanon, the Israeli Airforce officially targeted rocket launching bases, according to official reports by the Israeli Army.
Israel has been threatening to launch a war on Lebanon for months in retaliation against Hezbollah, which on the other hand has been launching daily strikes on Israeli sites across occupied Palestinian territories.
Earlier on Wednesday, an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon killed a senior commander in Hezbollah and injured another man who is believed to be the commander's son in the southern city of Tyre.
The targeted commander has been identified and is known as Muhammad Nimah Nasser (أبو نعمة ناصر). Hezbollah announced that Nasser, also known as "Hajj Abu Naameh" had been killed, which was met with the launch of almost 100 katyusha rockets targeting Israeli military positions.
The location of Nasser's killing was not specified in the group's Telegram release, although a source earlier informed Al Jazeera that a commander was slain near the Hosh region of Tyre, southern Lebanon. A source close to the organization told the AFP news agency that Nasser was killed in the Tyre attack.
Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
