The Israeli army arrested on Tuesday 15 members of PLO’s mainstream movement, Fateh, it suspects of shooting attacks against Israelis, Palestinian sources said.

They said there were no prominent Tanzim members among the arrested, but all of them were active during the Intifada in Nablus, Ramallah and Jenin West Bank towns.

Communications Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer told Israeli public radio that "this operation was conducted in cooperation with the Shin Beit (internal security service) and special army units in several parts of Ramallah and Nablus," reported AFP.

He was quoted as saying those arrested belonged to the Tanzim, the name given by Israel to Fateh organization it blames for stoking the violence in the Palestinian territories.
