ALBAWABA- The Israeli army reported seizing a UN vehicle in the northern Gaza Strip, suspecting militants were on board. The incident, which remains unresolved, involved stopping a UN convoy to interrogate Palestinian suspects.
A UN spokesperson confirmed the organization’s awareness of the situation, emphasizing the priority of ensuring the safety of its staff.
This incident follows ongoing tensions between Israel and UN agencies in Gaza.
Since October 8, 2023, Israeli forces have killed hundreds of UNRWA and healthcare workers, with accusations surfacing that Israel is deliberately targeting UNRWA operations.
Several UN-run facilities have also been hit, raising concerns that Israel is attempting to push the organization out of Gaza.
These actions follow unproven claims by Israel that UNRWA staff cooperated with Hamas, allegations which have been dismissed as baseless.
