ALBAWABA - The Israeli Air Forces attacked early Thursday morning Houthi group sites in Yemen triggering a sharp escalation in the region, the Israeli army revealed.

According to Israeli sources, the plan to attack Houthis was agreed by Defense Minister Israel Katz who said: "I approved an attack plan against dozens of strategic facilities belonging to the Houthis. We will not tolerate missile attacks on Israel or threats to the shipping lines."

Media linked to the Houthi group reported that four airstrikes hit the port of Hodeidah, while two more struck the Ras Issa oil facility. Additional raids targeted two central power stations in Sana’a, further intensifying the aggression.

The Jerusalem Post reported citing the Israeli army that the attack came after the Yemeni group launched a projectile toward central Israel during the early hours of Thursday morning. It added the projectile was intercepted.

On X, the Israel Defense Forces account posted a statement regarding the attack on Yemen and said: "Over the past year, the "Houthi terrorist regime" has been operating with the direction and funding of Iran, and in cooperation with Iraqi militias to attack the State of Israel and Israeli civilians."

The army continued: "The IDF is determined to continue operating against all threats posed to the citizens of the State of Israel, wherever necessary."
