Israeli fire kills another Palestinian in Gaza Strip as Hamas vows avenge

Israeli artillery pounded the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday, killing a Palestinian civilian and injuring six other people, Palestinian security officials said. Hassan Abu Jarad, a taxi driver transporting PA security officers to their positions, was killed when an Israeli shell hit the village of Beit Hanun. He was the 16th Palestinian killed by Israeli fire since Friday.

 

Medics told WAFA that the wounded, including Abla al-Masri 22, who was hit with shrapnel in the chest and policeman Mustafa al-Ghazzawi 26, in addition to a third, who was not identified. All the wounded were taken to Balsam Hospital. One is reported his condition to be serious.

 

In Jabalia refugees camp in Gaza Strip, two Palestinians were wounded when Israeli tanks shelled a plastic factory. In the meantime, Israeli tanks bombarded a farm owned by Abu Sel'a family at east of Jabalia. Witnesses said the bombardment caused loss of a number of cows.

On its part, Hamas' military wing on Sunday threatened to avenge the deaths. Thus, Israeli police forces went on high alert Sunday. In addition, the Israeli army was set to intensify arrest raids and tighten closures over the occupied territorities in the coming days, with the approach of the Jewish Passover Eve Wednesday night, Israel's Army Radio reported.
