Israeli forces detained five Palestinians from the occupied West Bank town of Kafr Qaddum early Thursday, including two children, a local official said.
Israeli forces raided the town early in the morning and detained three residents. The forces also delivered notices ordering two Palestinian children in the town to meet with Israeli police in the illegal Ariel settlement, coordinator of a local popular committee Murad Ishteiwi said.
Abdullah Jamil and Subhi Mansour were then interrogated and detained by Israeli police for allegedly taking part in the town's weekly march, Ishteiwi added.
An Israeli army spokesperson did not have immediate information on the detentions.
Residents of Kafr Qaddum have carried out weekly demonstrations for four years, often calling for the reopening of a village entrance which has been closed 13 years and is the main route to the nearby city of Nablus, an economic stronghold in the area.
The village has also lost large swathes of its land to Israeli settlements, outposts and the separation wall, all illegal under international law.
Residents are often targeted by Israeli forces for participation in the weekly protests, which are illegal under Israeli military law that governs the occupied West Bank.
Ishteiwi demanded that human rights organizations call for the two children's immediate release.
