Israeli forces detained 24 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank overnight Tuesday and early Wednesday, an Israeli army spokesperson told Ma'an.

Palestinian residents of the Qalandiya refugee camp near Ramallah told Ma'an that soldiers entered the camp at 4:30 a.m. and detained Ihab Affaneh, 25, after raiding his home.

Israeli forces raided and searched several other houses in the refugee camp including the homes of Sami Mteir, Odeh Yaqoub, and Issam Daraghmeh Abu Awwad, residents said.

Clashes erupted between Israeli forces and youths during the raid, residents told Ma’an, adding that no injuries were reported.

In Jenin, Palestinian security sources told Ma’an that Israeli forces detained Wissam Iyad Hannoun, 20, from the Jenin refugee camp after raiding his home.

Udayy Ibrahim Hamada al-Sheikh, 21, also from Jenin, was detained from from the Huwwara military checkpoint near Nablus, sources added.

At least seven Palestinians were detained from the Hebron area, according to local sources.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that a Palestinian detained in Jenin was a suspected “Hamas operative,” and the majority of the others detained were involved in “illegal activity.”

Israeli forces have carried out increased arrest raids across occupied Palestinian territory since the start of last month -- detaining well over 1,000 Palestinians.
