A Palestinian man was shot in the leg by IDF troops at Tapuah Junction in the West Bank Monday morning after he allegedly fled from Border Police officers during a security check.

The man suffered light injuries.

The IDF had no immediate comment on the incident.

Earlier in the morning, Israel Police arrested a Palestinian man in the West Bank in possession of an ax.

Officers stopped the suspect’s vehicle on Route 5, the highway running east-west across the West Bank, and found an ax on the floor of his car, Israel Radio reported.

The man contended that the weapon was meant for self-defense.
