The Israeli army arrested two wanted Palestinians in separate operations in Bethlehem and Jenin early Tuesday morning, Israel Radio reported.
Additionally, Israeli tanks rolled early Tuesday into the northern West Bank town of Tulkarem for the second time, Palestinian witnesses said. Some fifteen tanks, backed by a helicopter gunship staged a brief incursion and fired shells, the witnesses said, reporting injuries.
The Israeli army confirmed the operation and said its troops had withdrawn after carrying out searches.
According to press reports, Tulkarem governor Ezz a-Din a-Sharif said the Israeli army forces reoccupied the entire town, and the adjacent neighborhoods of Sheweika and Artah. He said intensive heavy shooting from tanks and shelling from helicopters began shortly before Israeli army forces entered the town from all directions.
Palestinian residents in the town said that dozens of tanks entered the Sheweika Square north of Tulkarem, and then came the army incursion followed by a curfew edict.
Meanwhile, the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) revealed in an anonymous phone call to AFP the identity of the suicide bomber who blew himself up Sunday in Netanya, killing three Israelis.
The caller said the bomber was Osama Bushkar, 18, a resident of the Askar refugee camp near the northern West Bank town of Nablus, who had been employed as a carpenter in Israel. (Albawaba.com)
