Head of Israel's military intelligence, Brigadier General Aharon Ze'evi on Sunday told the government during its weekly meeting that in his assessment the U.S.-led attack on Iraq would start next week. Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said during the meeting that the war would likely begin "in a short time."
Ze'evi said that his assessment is based on developments in the international arena in recent days and on the U.S. ultimatum calling for Iraq to disarm its non-conventional weapons by March 17. According to the Israeli media, Ze'evi estimates that the U.S. will launch an offensive against Iraq even in the UN Security Council vetoes such a move. (Albawaba.com)
