Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier over this eastern Lebanese city and overflew the southern port of Tyre Monday, AFP correspondents said.
The fighter-bombers provoked supersonic booms while swooping at low altitude over the ancient city of Baalbek in the eastern Bekaa Valley, one correspondent said.
The Israeli aircraft also overflew the southern port city of Tyre at medium altitude, another said.
Israel had almost completely stopped flying over Lebanon after the Jewish state's troop pullout from southern Lebanon in May.
But since Lebanese Hezbollah militants captured three Israeli soldiers on October 7 to swap them for Lebanese detained in Israel, Israeli warplanes resumed frequent flights over Lebanese skies.
