Israeli warplanes carried out mock air raids over the port city of Tyre and other regions of southern Lebanon Friday, AFP correspondents said.
At least four fighter-bombers dived low twice in a row over Tyre, breaking the sound barrier with loud booms and releasing flares in the sky, they said.
The jets also staged mock raids and provoked supersonic booms over the southern market town of Nabatiyeh and over Ramia, a border village from which Lebanese and Palestinians hurl projectiles at Israeli soldiers on the other side of the fence, they said.
Israeli planes also swooped over the coastal city of Sidon and the nearby mountainous region of Iqlim al-Tuffah, a stronghold of the Lebanese Shiite group Hizbollah, they said.
No incident preceded the Israeli mock raids, which seemed to be a pre-emptive warning measure.
On Tuesday, Israeli aviation last broke the sound barrier across many regions in southern Lebanon before doing the same over the main northern coastal city of Tripoli.
On Sunday, the warplanes caused supersonic booms over Beirut and in southern Lebanon.
