Israel's energy minister on Sunday said that while it was too early to see whether the nuclear deal with Iran would be a success, Iran had so far respected the terms of the deal, AFP reported.
"It's a bad deal but it's an accomplished fact and during the first year we spotted no significant breach from the Iranians," said energy minister Youval Steinitz, who is close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The agreement, which was signed last July and came into effect in January, saw Iran curbing its nuclear program in exchange for lifting of crippling economic sanctions imposed by world powers.
Steinitz's comments come after US President Barack Obama defended the deal last week.
Netanyahu, for his part, repeated Israel's rejection of the nuclear deal, but said that his country remained great allies with the US.
The US and Israeli governments have been negotiating for several months on the terms of the new 10-year defense package to replace the existing one, and is worth over $3 billion per year.
