ALBAWABA - In accordance with the recently brokered "Humanitarian Pause Agreement" between Hamas and Israel, the identities of 39 Palestinian prisoners set for release from Israeli detention have been made public. Among them are 24 women and 15 children, marking a significant step in the ongoing negotiations.
As stipulated by the ceasefire, the prisoners were transferred from Israeli prisons, namely Damon and Megiddo, to Ofer Prison in the West Bank. The exchange involves 150 Palestinian prisoners in return for 50 Israeli prisoners, with a particular focus on women and children from both sides of the conflict.
The anticipated release follows the ceasefire implementation on November 24 at 07:00 (GMT 08:00), aligning with the agreed-upon four-day humanitarian pause.
The exchange is further contingent upon the prior handover of Israeli captives in Gaza, emphasizing the delicate balance in the negotiations. The disclosed names signify a crucial development in the ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and pave the way for humanitarian gestures in the region.
