Some 1,100 Palestinians and Jordanians working illegally in Israel were detained in a police sweep overnight, reported the Jerusalem Post.
The operation, code-named New Order, was carried out in mainly Bedouin, Druze and Arab-Israeli communities adjacent to the Green Line, according to Meir Fahima, the officer in charge of the operation.
Some of the aliens had been in Israel for years, Fahima said, cited by the paper.
Twelve Israelis believed to have provided employment and lodging for the illegal workers will be brought up on charges, said the paper, citing an Army Radio report - Albawaba.com
