At least 13 Israeli right-wing activists were arrested Sunday after they broke through a police barrier in Arab East Jerusalem and hurled stones at Palestinian houses and cars, Israeli police and witnesses said. Israel's Army Radio reported that at least 200 activists were attempting to storm Jabal Mukaber, which was home to a Palestinian who earlier this month killed eight students in Jerusalem.
"A number of individuals attempted to make their way inside Jabal Mukaber. Stones were thrown and arrests were made," said police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld. No one was injured in the violence, he said.
During the demonstration, right-wing groups called for the demolition of the house where the Palestinian attacker's family lives. Hundreds of demonstrators marched towards the police blockage, holding signs and calling for revenge.
