Clashes broke out Friday in Hebron after a group of Israeli settlers forced their way into the house of a Palestinian family.
Several dozen Jewish settlers, including children, forced their way into the house of the Abu Eikal family near the Tel Rumeida district, where six settler families already live, an AFP correspondent witnessed.
Clashes occurred in the garden when a settler fired in the air and Palestinians retaliated by throwing stones.
The Israeli army took three members of the Abu Eikal family in for questioning and removed the settlers.
Israeli soldiers had already swooped on April 30 to remove some 100 settlers from the same place after they had installed themselves in a vast metal container in an attempt to set up a rogue settlement outpost.
Hebron is often a flashpoint for clashes between the some 400 extremist Jewish settlers who live among the city's 120,000 Palestinian inhabitants.
Under a US-brokered January 1997 agreement, Israel withdrew its troops from four-fifths of Hebron, retaining control of 20 percent of the city -(AFP)
