Israeli settlers are collecting millions of dollars in donations and abroad to purchase military and rescue equipment in preparation for a possible outbreak of violence if the peace talks fail, The Jerusalem Post reported Tuesday.
Yehudit Tayar, spokeswoman for the Council of Jewish Communities in “Judea, Samaria,” and Gaza was quoted by the daily as saying that the equipment is being purchased in full coordination with the Israeli army, including the regional defense officer in Central Command.
"Following intensive meetings with army officials, it was recommended to us that special military equipment needed to be purchased to boost the defense of our communities," Tayar told the Israeli paper, adding, “even if an agreement is reached, 90 percent of the communities will be isolated or surrounded by Palestinian-ruled areas”
