ALBAWABA - According to a report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least 12 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a factory in Aleppo, north of Syria.

"Twelve pro-Iranian fighters of Syrian and foreign nationalities were killed, according to an initial tally, in an Israeli air strike on a position in the town of Hayyan, north of Aleppo, setting off strong explosions in a factory,”," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"After midnight... the Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the southeast of Aleppo, targeting some positions" close to the city, the Syrian Ministry of Defense said in a statement. It also stated that "the aggression caused several martyrs and material damage".

Firefighters and rescuers were sent to the scene to treat the injured and put out fires started by the hit, according to the Observatory, a British organization with a wide network of sources inside Syria.

Hayyan is "controlled by pro-Iranian groups composed of Syrians and foreigners," according to the NGO.

Since the start of the Syrian civil war, Israel has launched hundreds of attacks on its northern neighbor, primarily hitting army sites and militants backed by Iran, including members of Lebanon's Hezbollah.

Israel has made it clear time and again that it would not allow Iran to increase its influence in Syria. The number of Israeli strikes across Syria witnessed a surge following the attack Hamas launched in October 7, which was followed by an all-scale brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza.
