ALBAWABA - Lebanon's Health Ministry said early Thursday that at least seven people were killed in Israeli attacks on central Beirut's seafront and the heart of the capital as Iran-backed Hezbollah launched more missiles towards Tel Aviv.
The Israeli military confirmed carrying out strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs overnight targeting Hezbollah, which had announced a major new operation against Israel after a joint attack by Israel and the U.S. killed Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei on Feb. 28.
Lebanese media shared footage of black smoke rising along the seaside road after Israel's strike in central Beirut, which state-run National News Agency (NNA) said targeted a car.
"The Israeli enemy strike on Ramlet al-Bayda in Beirut led to an initial toll of seven dead and 21 wounded," the health ministry reevaled in a statement.
It was the third attack in the heart of the capital since the escalation in the Middle East started in late February. Tel Aviv has also repeatedly struck the southern suburbs of Beirut against 10 Hezbollah targets.
The NNA further mentioned that the strikes had also hit several towns in southern Lebanon, including Taybeh, al-Sultaniyya and Qana.
