ALBWABA- A Lebanese army soldier was killed, and three others were injured—one critically—after a direct Israeli attack on a military post in the town of Mari, located in the Hasbaya district in southern Lebanon, according to a statement by the Lebanese Army.
The strike marks an escalation in hostilities amidst ongoing discussions to implement UN Resolution 1701.
The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed that its personnel came under fire in the Ma'rakah and southern Lebanon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in that incident.
These attacks follow the assassination of Lebanese media relations officer Mohammed Afif, who was killed alongside his assistant and others during an Israeli airstrike on the Ras al-Nabaa area.
The intensifying conflict comes at a critical juncture as Lebanon and Israel engage in talks aimed at de-escalating tensions.
