ALBAWABA- At least 16 Palestinians were killed and more than 70 others wounded after Israeli forces launched a series of airstrikes targeting the Gaza European Hospital and its surroundings in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The Israeli military reportedly used nine heavy bombs in an attempt to assassinate Mohammed Sinwar, the brother of Hamas political leader Yahya Sinwar and a commander in the Qassam Brigades, while he was allegedly inside the hospital.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority confirmed the military was behind the strikes, framing it as a targeted operation.
However, a resistance leader denied these claims, stating there were no fighters or resistance leaders present in the hospital at the time of the attack, suggesting that Israel’s justification was unfounded.
The assault caused widespread devastation. Israeli warplanes also struck areas north and east of the hospital, and fire belts were launched into the hospital’s internal courtyards. Among the wounded were three journalists who were reporting near the scene.
