Israeli warplanes staged mock raids Tuesday over Hizbullah strongholds in south Beirut in a clear violation of the Aug. 14 cease-fire. The Israeli fighter jets dived low over the southern suburbs at least six times before roaring back into the sky, the AP reported.

Lebanese security officials said eight Israeli planes had crossed the border and dispersed, flying over southern and central Lebanon, with some reaching south Beirut. The mock raids lasted more than 30 minutes.

In south Lebanon, officials and witnesses reported Israeli planes flying low over the towns of Nabatiyeh and Tyre.
