Israeli warplanes on Wednesday carried out mock air raids over southern Lebanon at a low altitude, breaking the sound barrier, said Lebanese security sources quoted by the official Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.
In a statement to KUNA, the sources said the Israeli air force planes flew for almost an hour over southern Lebanon and carried out mock raids over the city of Sidon, causing panic among civilians.
Since the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon in May 2000, the Israeli air force has carried out more than 300 mock raids over Lebanon in an attempt to create instability and cause fear, according to the agency.
Israel has attacked Syrian radar posts in Lebanon twice since last April, killing at least one Syrian soldier and injuring several others – Albawaba.com
