Israel's Budget to Include Further Cuts in Defense Spending

Israeli finance minister, Avraham Shohat, said on Monday that the defense budget will be cut, reported the Jerusalem Post.  

"If the air force isn't bombing in Lebanon and we do not have battalions in the security zone, then money can be allocated for other uses," he said.  

While the 2001 budget is still under deliberation, Shohat supports increased spending on education, infrastructure, and research and development, said the paper - Albawaba.com
