ALBAWABA- In a momentous revelation, Israel has disclosed a "historic secret meeting" that transpired in Rome between its Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and Libya's Foreign Minister Najla El Mangoush. 

Marking a pivotal step, Cohen described the meeting with his Libyan counterpart as an initial stride in fostering relations between Israel and Libya. 

Stressing the significance, Cohen underscored Libya's substantial size and strategic positioning, which endows the nascent ties with exceptional importance and boundless potential.

According to an Israeli Foreign Ministry statement, Eli Cohen discussed potential bilateral relations, the preservation of Jewish landmarks in Libya, and cooperation in areas like humanitarian aid, agriculture, and water management.

Cohen expressed gratitude to Italy's Foreign Minister for hosting the historic meeting, highlighting Israel's aim to expand peace and normalization efforts. The ministers emphasized historical ties between their peoples and explored cooperation opportunities.

However, this meeting can be seen as a step toward Libya's recognition and normalization of relations with Israel.
