ALBAWABA - As the war in Gaza resumed, the Israeli government approved the reappointing of politician Itamar Ben-Gvir as minister of National Security, a statement by the prime minister Netanyahu's office confirmed on Wednesday.
Ben Gvir drove out his party Otzma Yehudit of the Israeli government and announced his resignation in January to protest the Gaza ceasefire. He gained massive support to be brought back to the government, Netanyahu’s office added.
Local media in Israel said that voting to re-hire Ben Gvir to his old position took place despite Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara's warning that this action could lead Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet to legal action.
Nonetheless, the Israeli government reappointed MK Amichai Eliyahu as heritage minister and Yitzhak Wasserlauf as Negev, Galilee and national resilience minister, the statement read.
