ITXC Corp. (Princeton, N.J.), a provider of worldwide Internet voice services, announced the opening of a regional sales office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to meet the growing demand from Middle East telecom providers for voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services, reported Tele.com on Wednesday.
The number of main telephone lines in the Middle East region grew from 12.2 million in 1990 to more than 32 million lines by the beginning of 2000 according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
ITXC's VoIP traffic to the Middle East increased 178 percent from 1999 to 2000, said the report – Albawaba.com
