The participation of Jadaf Dubai, the oldest ship repair and industrial marine yard in the Arabian Gulf region, at Ship Repair and Conversion 2005 has turned out to be a major highlight of the global event, which concluded today (Wednesday, November 9, 2005) at the Dubai International Convention Centre. Jadaf Dubai showcased its entire range of facilities and services at the exhibition, generating tremendous response from the thousands of visitors who attended the event.

“As the ship repair and conversion market becomes competitive, it is important that we continue to remain one step ahead,” said Hamed Mohammed M. bin Lahej, General Manager, Jadaf Dubai. “Our extensive participation at the exhibition afforded us an opportunity to reach a new market of ship owners and ship managers, allowing us to initiate new business relations while building upon current activities. In addition, the international profile of the show enabled us to keep abreast of the latest global developments and innovations in the shipping industry.”

“Jadaf Dubai is committed to provide superior and professional services in the management of dry docks. We have today earned a reputation as one of the leading docks in the world in terms of annual ship-lifting operations, with 2,181 such operations carried out in the year 2004 alone, whereas most European docks managed only about 300 operations during the same period. The very fact that Dubai was chosen as this year’s venue for Ship Repair and Conversion, the 13 previous editions of which were held in London, is an indication of our growing global stature in the area of docking and ship repair,” bin Lahej added.

Jadaf Dubai specializes in docking and undocking of ships, and is considered one of the busiest docking yards in the world, with two dry docks, two ship-lift systems and dry berths, among other facilities. More than 270 companies operate from within Jadaf Dubai, offering comprehensive and professional docking and ancillary services to the shipping industry.

Ship Repair and Conversion 2005 is the only specialist international exhibition for the ship repair, maintenance, conversion and refit industries. The event has historically taken place in London, and moved to Dubai for the first time. The show brought together more than 60 exhibitors from over 35 countries, including the UK, India, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Bahrain, Greece, the Netherlands, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Poland, Malta, South Africa, Cyprus, Norway, Estonia and the UAE.

Ship Repair and Conversion 2005 was organized by Lloyd’s List Events, part of Informa Maritime and Transport. The exhibition was supported by Dubai Maritime City and Dubai Drydocks.
