Japan to Aid Syria's Railways and Ports

The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has offered Syria a loan that will be used to study the state of Syrian ports and railways, Syrian Times reported Tuesday. 

The paper did not report on the amount of the loan. 

Syrian transport minister Mukram Obeid on Monday received director of the development transaction department of the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation, Syrian Times said, adding that the talks dealt with cooperation ties between Syria and Japan, the paper added. 

There are two major ports in Syria: Latakia and Tartous, while there are three airports: Damascus, Aleppo and Bassel Assad airport in Latakia – Albawaba.com
