Japan's government said Friday it was deeply concerned by spiraling violence between Israelis and Palestinians and called on both sides to return to talks.
"I think the situation is very serious," Chikahito Harada, deputy press secretary at the foreign ministry, told reporters.
"We just strongly hope that both parties concerned will make every effort to calm the situation down and come back to the table for negotiations," he said.
