JEDDAH SCIENCE INNOVATION CLUB INAUGURATED

In a lively atmosphere colored with fireworks that dazzled the night sky, His Royal Highness Prince Mish’al bin Majid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Mayor of Jeddah, inaugurated the launch of the Jeddah Science Innovation Club (established by Tide) in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Academics, businessmen and women and members of the press.

In an introductory speech, Ahmed Ibrahim Linjawy, External Relations Director of Modern Industries Company (Tide), highlighted the private sector's support to education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reiterated the Company’s role and commitment towards the community drawing attention to Modern Industries Company’s (Tide) far-seeing vision and commitment to education in Saudi Arabia as the core of its community programs, dedicated to helping children of the region to get the best educational opportunities that extend their knowledge and stimulate their creative thinking. Linjawy recognized the iconic partnership between the Ministry of Education, specifically the Science and Student Activity Department of the General Directorate of Education in the Makkah Area, which was a contributing factor to the success of the groundbreaking initiative.

The Supervisor of Jeddah Science Innovation Club from the Student Activity Department of the General Directorate of Education in the Makkah Area, Abdullah Al Suwaid, commented that the Club, once an ambitious dream, has now become a reality that is a self sustaining institution. He added that the Club is a revolution in the field of applied sciences and provides a wealth of state-of-the-art resources that allows students to further expand their creative horizons. Al Suwaid sincerely thanked Modern Industries Company (Tide) for their outstanding efforts and exemplary role in supporting academic activities.

Sheikh Osama Ismail Abudawood, Chairman of Modern Industries Company (Tide) asserted that the Jeddah Science Innovation Club is a platform for young nationals to explore their talents and potential by continuously investing in creative means for students to hone their skills outside the confines of the classroom.  He emphasized the Company’s intrinsic and fundamental commitment to developing long term and sustainable programs that serve the larger community and underscored that the Club is an attestation of Tide’s far-reaching vision for education in the Kingdom.  Abudawood added that the project cost approximately SR 7 million to establish a specialized 5,000 square meters scientific landmark.  As leaders in the field, MIC’s contributions to social programs exceeded SR 11 million last year through a variety of activities across the Kingdom.

On this momentous occasion, His Royal Highness recognized Modern Industries Company (Tide) in addition to the various organizing committees and businessmen for their contributions and dedication.  In his address, Prince Mish’al emphasized the continuous need for such novel initiatives that augment new academic fronts to foster young national talent and lead them to bright and promising futures. After unveiling the commemorative monument, His Royal Highness, Sheikh Abudawood and the Minister of Education toured the premises of the Club and the various department and divisions within.

The Jeddah Science Innovation Club plans to realize a number of goals that include participating in reviving leadership in science, raising a creativity-oriented generation of students by developing their creative abilities through utilizing interesting and advanced scientific programs, and honoring local and international achievements in science. The Club encompasses laboratories for computer, biology, mathematics and astronomy, as well as instruction and lecture rooms, workshops and a science library and will be available to all students in the Makkah Area
